Carjacking and bear spray attack: Bonnyville RCMP report

Bear spray attack

On December 10th at 3:30 pm in the afternoon Bonnyville RCMP were called to a residence in Kehewin for a male that had just sprayed bear spray at other occupants in the residence.

RCMP attended the scene but the suspect had already fled in a vehicle.

He was located a short time later and arrested for Assault with a Weapon.

During a search of his person he was found to be in possession of meth, and he was also found to be on conditions from unrelated charges.

Niton Saulteaux, 29 year old, of Kehewin is charged with Assault with a Weapon, Mischief Under $5000 and 2 counts of breaching release conditions.

He was remanded into custody and has a court date set for Dec. 19.

Carjacking

On December 11th at 1:45 pm in the afternoon the victim of a carjacking called 911 to report that a male had just taken his truck.

The victim had just stepped out of his running truck to take some photos for work and within seconds the suspect jumped into the truck and started to take off.

The victim engaged with the suspect who then pulled a knife and drove past the victim, striking various parked vehicles in his attempt to flee.

The suspect then exited the truck and fled on foot.

RCMP swarmed the area immediately and determined the suspect and his female accomplice were hiding out in a nearby apartment in the area of 42 Street and 45 Ave in Bonnyville.

After setting up containment on the apartment the male and female suspects were both taken into custody without incident.

Sam Nunweiler, 22 year old, and Jasmine Williams, 20 year old, both of Bonnyville, are charged with Robbery with a Weapon.

Nunweiler faced additional charges of four counts of Mischief Over $5000 and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.

They were both held in custody after their bail hearing and are set to appear in court on Dec. 16.
