Assault, disturbing the peace, suspended driver: Bonnyville RCMP Report Nov. 29-Dec. 6
The Bonnyville RCMP dealt with 139 investigations between November 29 – December 6.
Assault
A 36-year old Bonnyville man is facing an assault charge after an incident in the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 3.
Police were called to 55 Street and 55 Avenue at around 10:00AM after receiving the report. The suspect was ID’d and arrested without further incident.
Gavin Desjarlais is charged with assault & uttering threats.
He was released by a Justice of the Peace to appear in court on Dec. 17th.
Disturbing the peace, threats to police
Two situations in two days of disturbing the peace has lead to multiple charges for a 72-year-old Kehewin man.
On Dec. 1, the Bonnyville RCMP were called to a local bank for a report of an intoxicated male causing a disturbance.
RCMP attended and immediately located and arrested the male.
While in custody, the male uttered several threats towards two RCMP members, police say.
Louis Watchmaker of Kehewin is charged with disturbing the peace and two counts of uttering threats.
RCMP brought Watchmaker before a Justice of the Peace who released him from custody on conditions including not to be found intoxicated in a public place. His court date was set for December 17th.
Two days after his release, the RCMP were called to another local business where Watchmaker was intoxicated and interfering with customers’ ability to conduct their business.
He was re-arrested and charged with Disturbing the Peace and Failing to Comply with a Release Condition.
His court date for those matters is set for January 28, 2025.
Suspended driver
On Thursday, Dec. 5, at 2:00PM, members of the Bonnyville RCMP were out on patrol and noted two individuals in a vehicle that was about to depart a parking lot.
The driver was known to be suspended from driving and the female passenger was known to be on warrants.
The 53-year-old male from Kehewin is charged with two traffic violations of Driving while Prohibited, which requires a mandatory court appearance and transporting liquor in a vehicle within easy access to any occupant, which carries a $120 fine.
The 30-year-old female from Kehewin was arrested on her warrants and new court dates were set for those matters.
Names were not released, because the charges have not been sworn.
Pack the Police Car
Bonnyville RCMP are once again looking to help out the Food Bank on Friday, Dec. 13.
Pack the Police Car will be set up at the Sobey’s parking lot from 12:00PM-3:00PM.
