Freezing Rain Warning for the Lakeland Region

Environment Canada has issued a Freesing Rain warning for the Lakeland region and parts of Alberta.

Freezing Rain Warning in effect for:

  • M.D. of Bonnyville near Cold Lake and City of Cold Lake

Freezing rain is expected this afternoon and tonight, causing slippery conditions.

 

Freezing rain will begin this morning in Peace River and expand eastwards to Cold Lake late this afternoon. Freezing rain will end this evening in Peace River and by Tuesday morning in Cold Lake.

 

The city of Fort McMurray will be near the northern edge of the freezing rain band. Highway 63 to the south will see freezing rain Monday evening. The city itself should see mostly snow.

 

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.

 

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.

 

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
