Fatal Collision Claims Life of Vermilion Man on Highway 16 Near Kitscoty
Kitscoty RCMP responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 16 last night around 9:00 p.m., resulting in the closure of the westbound lanes between Range Road 30 and Range Road 25. Motorists were urged to avoid the area, with detours available via Highway 897 and Range Road 25.
The collision occurred at approximately 8:49 p.m. and involved a semi-truck and a car. Tragically, the driver of the vehicle, a 29-year-old male resident of Vermilion, Alberta, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
In a statement, Alberta RCMP expressed sympathy to the family and friends of the deceased and extended their deepest condolences to them during this difficult time.
The westbound section of Highway 16 was temporarily closed to allow emergency crews to attend the scene and investigate the collision. Drivers are reminded to remain cautious on highways and follow any detour instructions in such situations.
