Bill Rogers is leaving the Town of Bonnyville’s chief administrative officer position.

The CAO for the past years announced on Wednesday that he is retiring from the job at the end of 2024. In the interim, Renee Stoyles will be the acting CAO.

“This wasn’t something I came to lightly.” Rogers said in a press release Wednesday.

“It felt like the right time for me and I know I am leaving the Town in great hands.”

Rogers has worked for the Town for the past 10 years.

With multiple decades of municipal experience, he was hired in 2014 as the assistant CAO to former CAO Mark Power.

Rogers was the CAO of the Village of Ryley for three years before he came to the Town, and became the CAO after Power retired in 2020.

In the release, the Town wishes Rogers the best in his retirement, and are confident in Stoyles’ ability through this transition.

“On behalf of Town staff and myself, I want to thank Bill for his dedication, wisdom, and vision that have been invaluable to our team and to Bonnyville,” said Stoyles.

“Bill has been more than a leader; he’s been a mentor and friend who has inspired us to bring our best each day. We are incredibly grateful for his guidance these past few years and will carry forward the positive impact he’s made here.”

An application process will now be instigated in order to fill the position for the long term.

Interim CAO’s are becoming more popular in the Lakeland.

The M.D. of Bonnyville currently has an interim in Matt Janz following the release Al Hoggan.
