Bonnyville RCMP report Sept. 27-Oct. 4: robbery, vehicle mischief
Bonnyville RCMP dealt with a total of 149 investigations from Sept. 27 to Oct. 4.
Threatened with bear mace
On Sept. 28 at 1:30PM, the victim of a robbery reported to Bonnyville RCMP that an unknown male entered their camper and demanded the victim give him everything he had, all the while holding a can of bear mace.
The suspect made off with the victim’s new cell phone and the victim was unharmed, police say.
RCMP quickly located the suspect and placed him under arrest.
Maximus Willows, 20 year old, of Edenwold, Saskatchewan, is charged with Robbery, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Breaching a Probation Order.
A Justice of the Peace released Willows on no cash to appear in court on October 15th.
Bomb threat?
On Sept. 28 at 8:30PM, a 43 year old male from Bonnyville was travelling along Range Road 654 near Bonnyville too fast, police say, and lost control through a fence.
That caused the car to come to a stop on its side.
The driver was assisted out of the car by a passerby but then fled on foot and was heard to be yelling, “I have a bomb strapped to me! Help me!” according to police.
Bonnyville RCMP, Fire, and EMS were all nearby searching for the male and found him laying in the grass and confirmed he did not and never did have a bomb.
The male was treated for minor injuries at the Bonnyville hospital and was charged with Failing to Remain at the Scene of a Collision.
Impaired driver
On Oct. 2 just after 8:00AM, the Bonnyville RCMP received a complaint about an impaired driver east of Bonnyville on Highway 657 near Township Road 610.
The witness indicated that the driver had initially been passed out in the vehicle in the ditch, but when he knocked on the window to see if he was okay, the driver took off down the road in an erratic fashion.
RCMP members quickly located the vehicle and performed a sobriety test with the driver who failed.
A subsequent search of his vehicle turned up a controlled substance.
Travis Carlson, 27 year old, of Cold Lake is charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.
He was released by a Justice of the Pace and his first court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 22.
