A northern Alberta trapper was taken to Lac La Biche hospital without injury after being stranded in an overturned OHV.

On Sunday afternoon at 12:48PM, Boyle RCMP received a report from a stranded trapper in an inaccessible area 15 miles west of Highway 63 near Agnes Lake between Wandering River and Mariana Lake.

Police say the hunter, a Fort McKay First Nations resident, was making his way to his cabin when the Argo side by side he was operating overturned and became stuck.

It was quickly determined that the only way to assist the hunter was using the Alberta RCMP helicopter MPP. The helicopter attended the area and located the hunter.

The hunter was cold and wet with outside temperatures at four degrees, and was transported to the Lac La Biche airport without injury.

“Conditions were cold and wet,” says Cpl. Troy Savinkoff of the Alberta RCMP in a press release on Tuesday morning.

“The quick coordination and execution of this rescue prevented the hunter from needing medical attention in a situation that could have ended differently.”
