Bonnyville Pontiacs home opener to see historic matchup with Devon Xtreme

History will be made when the Bonnyville Pontiacs home opener begins on Friday night.

The Devon Xtreme will play their first ever Alberta Junior Hockey League regular season game when they visit the Yaks, then host the Pontiacs on Saturday night in their home opener.

It’s a season of change for Bonnyville.

Just four players return from last year’s roster, including Bonnyville’s own Dylan Hebert and Brent Hoshowski.

Jordan Schanbacher and Braydon Vandenbilche are also familiar with the club, returning for their second and third seasons, respectively.

Ben Skarsen, from Bonnyville, also will make the roster, along with Carson Croteau.

Veteran junior players like Cade Meiklejohn, Kailus Green, as well as netminder Cody Butikis are some players to watch, as well as defenceman Brady Austin, recently acquired from the Quebec Remparts.

The home opener tailgate party gets going at 5:00PM with burgers outside the C2, before puck drop at 7:00PM.
