Strength and fitness gym application approved at Bonnyville MPC

A new strength conditioning gym was approved with conditions by the Town of Bonnyville council at the Municipal Planning Commission meeting on Tuesday.

This meeting takes place during the regular council meeting, and needed approval because of the land-use zoning in the Town’s bylaws.

The building located at 5210A 55th Street on the west end of Bonnyville is within the C3 – Highway Commercial District, and gyms are not listed as a permitted or discretionary within that area. 

However, with similarities to an indoor “Amusement Establishment” with gym equipment instead of gaming items, council voted to approve.

“It’s a great location, parking is good, and the more new businesses we can have in town — the better,” said Mayor Elisa Brosseau on The Morning After. 

Blake Adams submitted the application for this business, called Immortal Strength and Conditioning. 

Notices were sent to adjacent landowners, and no return comments were received by the Town.
