Lakeland College, Vermilion Campus location: Emergency Training Centre

Emergency Training Centre opens up for Program Info Session

Potential first responders will have the opportunity to learn more about Lakeland College’s  Emergency Training Centre (ETC) at the Fire and Emergency Services Program Info Session on Aug. 9.

“We’ve got a lot to be proud of at the ETC and can’t wait to show our future students the many advantages they’ll find at Lakeland,” says Shawn McKerry, dean of the Emergency Training Centre. “Our students have access to one of  Canada’s largest training facilities, instructors with real industry experience, and the hands-on learning that prepares  them to make a difference on the front lines.”

The ETC, located on Lakeland’s Vermilion campus, is home to the college’s emergency services technology, firefighter training, bachelor of applied business in emergency services, and various industrial and municipal training programs. It’s one of Canada’s most state-of-the-art training grounds, with facilities including a smoke tower, burn tower, dangerous goods pad, and props for hands-on experience in vehicle extrication, industrial and technical rescue, fire investigation, and more.

At the Program Info Session, visitors will learn more about programs offered at the ETC, tour the facility, see demos on  the training field and talk to students and instructors. There will also be optional campus and residence tours and lunch  will be provided.
