Two suspected thieves have been arrested following an electronics heist that saw roughly $80,000 taken from Staples in Cold Lake.

The break and enter happened on April 13.

RCMP believe the suspects disabled the power to the building and cut a hole in the wall to gain access. The suspects left the Staples in a truck when police arrived on scene and were not located at the time.

Approximately $80,000 in stolen computers, tablets, mobile devices, and other electronics were taken, police said.

Cold Lake General Investigations Section (GIS) began investigating a vehicle similar to the one seen at the break and enter.

Between April 16, and April 18, police executed search warrants on two vehicles and a residence in the City. During the search, police located most of the stolen property from the Staples break and enter. Police have charged two people in relation to this break and enter.

Chance Dunne, 39, a resident of Cold Lake, and Logan Murrell, 28, a resident of Edmonton, have been charged with the following offences:

  • Breaking and Enter to Staples, Cold Lake
  • Possession of Property obtained by crime over $5000.

Both Dunne and Murrell are currently remanded into custody and will appear in the Cold Lake Court of Justice on July 24.
