WATCH: Team over dozen Diving for Hungry to clean Cold Lake

An uncomfortable truth about waterbodies is — they get dirty. Junk finds a way into our lakes for one reason or another. So how do we clean them up?

This is part of the idea of an event happening on Sunday in Cold Lake. A local group is spearheading a cause to both remove pounds of garbage from Cold Lake, while increasing the pounds of food for the Food Bank.

“The plan is to go into this area, bring out as much material as we can on June 23rd. We’re hoping to get over a thousand pounds of material out of the lake.” 

We can either take food directly, which Cold Lake Food Bank will be here with their vans, so they can take food as well. They can take monetary donations. And then on top of it, just as a personal goal for each of our divers, we’re raising our own funds. So that can either be an open donation—if you want to just donate $20—or if you want to challenge us for the amount of material you can donate, like, say, 10 cents per pound or a dollar per pound. So if we pull out 1,200 pounds at a dollar, well, that would be your donation. So, multiple ways to donate to our cause.”
