The Town of Bonnyville has announced who will be performing for a free summer concert, after a tease several weeks ago.

Sass Jordan, Juno Award winning rock artist, is coming to play a free show during the Saturday night of the Cold Lake Air Show on July 20.

The performer does have ties to the area. In 2012, she served as an Honorary Colonel for 417 Combat Support Squadron at 4 Wing.

It’s being held at the Bonnyville & District Centennial Centre, with beer gardens, bouncy castles, and a barbeque, and Tiago James will open the show.

Deputy Mayor Byron Johnson on the April 10th Morning After, said the idea was to capitalize on many visitors being in the Lakeland, using hotels in Cold Lake and Bonnyville, and fill a historical void in terms of evening entertainment on the Saturday.

There’s lots of free music slated this summer.

Canada Day features Honeymoon Suite in Bonnyville and Cory Marks is the Cold Lake show.

For the Full Throttle festival, the kickoff to Air Show weekend, Blackjack Billy takes the main stage on Friday, July 19.

Jordan won the Juno for Most Promising Female Vocalist of the Year in 1989, while being nominated for Best Female Vocalist three other times.

Billboard magazine listed Sass Jordan as the Top Female Rock Artist of the Year in 1992.
