Smoky Lake County hires Kevin Lucas as CAO

Smoky Lake County announced they’ve filled their vacant CAO position after roughly a year long search.

Kevin Lucas, who recently resigned as Town of Vermilion’s CAO, will begin as the County’s chief administrative officer as of June 3.

“I’m eager to uphold the County’s values and drive progress towards a shared vision of the priorities as outlined in the Strategic Plan, together, building a sustainable, growth-focused future for the community,” said Lucas in a press release.

The County acknowledged the work done by the assistant CAO, Lydia Cielin, who has filled the position for the past 12 months.

Lucas was a desirable candidate, the County believes, because of his years in senior management as a Director, interim and CAO. His education is an executive Masters in in Business Administration, which “will play a significant role to advance the County’s leadership and critical thinking.
