A road rage incident which saw a man display a gun out his window has lead to a series of charges.

The situation unfolded on April 25, just before 11:00AM, on Highway 41 in the County of Vermilion River.

Vermilion RCMP relay reports that there was an exchange of physical gestures, which led the driver of one vehicle to display a firearm out his window. 

The incident was captured on a dash camera and led to a search warrant at a rural property in the County. Police say they seized a total of 12 firearms, seven of which were restricted. 

As a result of the investigation, Curtis Konkin, 51, a resident of the County of Vermilion River, was charged with:

  • Careless use/storage of a firearm (x2);
  • Transfer firearm without lawful authority;
  • Obstruct police officer; and
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

Konkin was brought to a justice of the peace where he was released from custody. He is set to appear in court on June 3, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Vermilion.
