Four men from the Lakeland will be smiling after winning big bucks from lottery tickets.

On Thursday at Century Casino in Edmonton, Denis Bourassa from Plamondon, Dennis Sigbert Boucher from Lac La Biche, John Russell Kelly from Vermilion, and David Goruk from Smoky Lake, either played Plinko or spun The Big Wheel for major prizes.

  • Bourassa, playing Plinko, won $300,000.
  • Boucher, spun his way to a $125,000 prize on the Big Spin wheel
  • Kelly took home $400,000 on the Big Spin wheel
  • Goruk spun himself a $100,000 prize

Bourassa is Plamondon’s biggest winner in 20 years, initially winning $10,000 from his winning ticket purchased from the Lac La Biche Esso Convenience on December 19.

“I’m probably going to share this with my family,” he said at his PLINKO Drop. “I’ll have to figure out how I’m splitting it all up!”

Boucher said he was thrilled to discover The Big Spin ticket he bought from Eddie’s Mart at 10251 101 Ave Lac La Biche on January 5 won $10,000 and a date for a bigger prize.

“I hollered when I saw the win,” he said. “I’ve been playing this game for a long while, and my wife and I couldn’t believe our eyes.”

Moments after Boucher’s spin, Kelly stepped up to the wheel. He received the scratch ticket as a gift and first learned he had won the game’s top prize while at work.

“I went to scan the ticket at the store, and everyone gathered around to watch,” he laughed. “I jumped up and down, hooting and hollering. I was just in total shock!”

Kelly’s ticket was purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart in Vermilion.

David Goruk was a last-minute addition to the winning line up. The Smoky Lake winner bought his ticket at the Centex gas station.

“I was shocked… Gobsmacked, really,” the winner said at his prize claim interview. “My wife and I are going to buy all new appliances and go on a very delayed honeymoon to Europe!”
