Bonnyville Approves Spring Cleanup and Operating Budget in Recent Council Meeting
In a recent interview on Lakeland Connect, Town of Bonnyville, Mayor Elisa Brosseau discussed the town’s upcoming plans for spring cleanup and its approved operating budget. Mayor Brosseau highlighted several key points during the interview.
Spring cleanup, scheduled for the first or second week of May, was a topic of discussion. Residents can dispose of larger items from their yards, with the town providing collection services. However, Mayor Brosseau emphasized that certain items, such as appliances, may incur a service charge due to the need for proper disposal.
“Residents will have the opportunity to dispose of larger items from their yards, with the town providing collection services.”
The operating capital budget, approved during a council meeting on Tuesday night, was also a significant focus.
Mayor Brosseau noted, “The budget experienced a slight increase compared to the interim budget. It ultimately balanced at $32 million.”
She highlighted the challenges of managing the budget, considering various town services and seasonal factors like snow clearing.
Regarding capital spending, Mayor Brosseau mentioned ongoing projects such as road maintenance and the lighting of the Jesse Lake Trail. “We’ve got a lot of things on the go when we talk about road maintenance. The big thing that we’ve been talking about is the Jesse Lake Trail lighting.”
Additionally, funding for the town’s pool remained untouched in the budget, reflecting the council’s continued commitment to this community asset. “That money stayed in the budget. We’re not touching that budget, that money. We’re going to continue to add to it because it continues to be a focus for the council.”
Overall, Mayor Brosseau’s insights provide valuable information on Bonnyville’s plans for maintaining its infrastructure and enhancing community services. With spring cleanup on the horizon and a balanced operating budget in place, the town is poised for continued progress and development.
