They want to axe the tax.
A group of roughly 40-50 people spent time at the Bonnyville Provincial Building on Monday afternoon to protest the increases of the carbon tax.
On April 1, the carbon tax increased by 23 per cent, to $80 a tonne.
The gathering saw Alberta and Canada flags, signs to “Axe the Tax”, and a barbeque which raised about $152 for the Bonnyville Food Bank.
“It’s getting harder and harder,” said coordinator Jamie Beaupre. ““I think it’s a national feeling. It’s getting too carried away. It’s too expensive.”
Several cities and towns across Canada held similar rallies to protest the increase.
To boot, as fuel prices jump, the Alberta fuel tax also returns, back up four per cent.
