Only one AJHL team had two players make their All-League 1st team — the Bonnyville Pontiacs.
The Alberta Junior Hockey League released its 1st and 2nd All-League teams on Tuesday.
While it’s no consolation prize for having been swept in the quarterfinals, Luka Sukovic and JR Ashmead were named to the 1st team. Both are exiting 20-year-olds from this year’s team.
Sukovic was also named MVP and Top Forward, while Ashmead was a finalist for Top Defenceman.
Caden Cabana also made the team, from the Lloydminster Bobcats, while a Drumheller Dragon, Whitecourt Wolverine, and Canmore Eagle rounded out the selections.
In other recognitions, Max Seguin was the Pontiacs’ choice for the All-Academic team. The second-year Pontiac was not only proficient on the ice, but is a wiz in the classroom as well.
It shows by way of his NCAA scholarship, which sees Seguin go to Princeton once his junior playing days are done. He has one more year of junior eligibility.
Tyler Blocha is also in the running for the RBC Community Ambassador for his work in the community. His submission video can be found here.
