The City of Cold Lake is pleased to announce that the second arena in the Energy Centre will be known as the Cenovus Energy Arena.

The Cenovus Energy Arena was officially unveiled on March 17 during a fun family event filled with skating, food, kids activities, and two Canadian Olympic speed skaters.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Cenovus Energy on this initiative,” said Mayor Craig Copeland. “The Cenovus Energy Arena helps our community host important events and tournaments and has received praise from visitors from around Alberta. This generous sponsorship will help the city expand recreational programming in the facility, and ensure that the facility is well maintained and kept up-to-date.”

The arena boasts an NHL sized ice surface with 274 seats, dressing rooms, a warm viewing area and year-round ice.

“We believe in investing in the regions where our employees live, work, and play, and in helping to build resilient communities,” said Keith Chiasson, Cenovus Executive Vice-President & Chief Operating Officer. “We hope the Cenovus Energy Arena will become an additional gathering place for the community, providing an engaging venue for physical activity and creating new opportunities for community connections.”

“This community partnership helps us bring our youth exciting opportunities to have fun, compete, and build great memories with friends and family,” said Copeland. “Industry in our region has always been important partners in developing our community. Cenovus has been, and continues to be, an exceptional community partner and we thank them for their continued support.”
