NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING: TOWN OF BONNYVILLE – PROPOSED LAND USE BYLAW AMENDMENT

The purpose of proposed Bylaw No. 1564-24 is to amend Bylaw No. 1447-16, the Land Use Bylaw of the Town of Bonnyville.

 

Under the authority and subject to the provisions of the Municipal Government Act and by virtue of all other powers enabling the Council of the Town of Bonnyville duly assembled enacts as follows:

 

  1. That Bylaw No. 1447-16, being the Land Use Bylaw of the Town of Bonnyville, is hereby amended.

 

  1. That the Land Use Bylaw No. 1564-24 be amended as follows:

 

2.1 Part IX: Sign Provisions 

  1. SECTION 401: DEFINITIONS RELATED TO SIGNS

Blade Sign means a pedestrian-oriented, non-internally illuminated double-faced sign, comprised of one (1) individual panel, projecting from the building wall on which it is mounted. 

  1. SECTION 402(12): GENERAL SIGN PROVISIONS

Relocation of Signage:

A new sign permit application will be required for the development authority to review to determine if the existing signage will still meet the requirements of the Land Use Bylaw at the new location. If the signage meets the requirements at the new location no permit fee shall be charged for the sign permit.

  1. SECTION 404(C): SIGN REGULATIONS BY TYPE

Blade Signs (all districts):

  1. A blade sign shall not exceed a total of 0.5 square metres of signage per side,
  2. shall have at least 0.15 metres between the building wall the edge of the sign nearest the building, 
  3. and cannot project more than 1.07 metres from the building wall on which it is mounted.\
  4. Blade signs may have back lighting but there shall be no flashings lights.

 

  1. That this Bylaw shall come into force and effect on the date of final reading.

 

The public from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. may inspect a copy of the proposed Bylaw, Monday to Friday, at the front desk of the Municipal Office (4917 – 49 Avenue) of the Town of Bonnyville. Inquiries respecting the proposed Bylaw may be made at this office by phoning 780-826-3496.

 

A Public Hearing has been set for Tuesday, March 26 at 6:00 p.m., at the Town Hall Council Chambers, to allow residents to speak either for or against the proposed bylaw.

 

Anyone claiming to be prejudicially affected by the passing of this bylaw shall be afforded an opportunity to be heard by Council either himself/herself or by his/her agent at the date and time shown above.  Those persons wishing to present written submissions to Council are requested to submit the submission to the undersigned in writing no later than 4:30 p.m., Wednesday March 19, 2024
