George Laraque delights at Sportsman Dinner

George Laraque spoke about pursuing your dreams and not letting anything get in your way in front of a crowd of 400 people on Friday night at the C2.

It was the second annual Victor Ringuette Sportsman Dinner, a fundraiser for Bonnyville Minor Hockey Association, as well as the Bonnyville Jr. A and Sr. Pontiacs.

Laraque, the former Edmonton Oilers tough-guy, delighted the crowd in an inspirational keynote speech, after a delicious meal from C’est La Vie catering.

The night included a handful of live auction items and experiences, as well as many silent auctions, featuring hockey and Pontiac memorabilia to otherwise goods.

“I think that the platform that we have playing in the NHL, it’s so important to be in the community,” Laraque told Lakeland Connect.

“It’s a way to say thank you.”
