Man has 23 charges laid while youth also arrested in Beaver Lake incident

A man and a youth are facing significant charges after a break and enter.

On Feb. 24, 2024, at approximately 4:15 a.m., Lac la Biche RCMP were dispatched to a break and enter in progress to a residence on Christy Creek Road in Beaver Lake. The investigation revealed that an argument had ensued at the residence, with resulted in a male discharging a firearm. The suspects fled the residence in a vehicle prior to police arrival.

Patrols were initiated to find the suspect vehicle and, a short time later, it was observed driving by the victim’s residence at a high rate of speed. Lac la Biche RCMP successfully stopped the vehicle and arrested both occupants without incident. No members of the public or officers were injured during this incident.

As a result of the investigation, Lac la Biche RCMP seized a bolt action rifle, ammunition and a machete from the vehicle.

Tristan Bradley Campbell (27), a resident of Beaver Lake, was charged with 23 criminal code offences, some of which include: 

  • Discharge firearm while being reckless;
  • Possession of weapon contrary to order;
  • Assault;
  • Assault with a weapon;
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

A 16-year-old youth was arrested and charged with:

  • Pointing a firearm;
  • Fail to comply;
  • Assault.

Both Campbell and the youth were taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody. Due to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the youth cannot be named. Both are to appear next on Feb. 27, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Boyle.
