Community partners have once again come together to celebrate the memory of Victor Ringuette, with a night of fun of entertainment planned.
The 2nd annual Victor Ringuette Sportsman Dinner is this Friday, put on by Bonnyville Minor Hockey Association, Bonnyville Jr. A Pontiacs, and Bonnyville Sr. Pontiacs.
This year, special guest and Edmonton Oilers legend Georges Laraque will share stories from his NHL playing days, a delicious meal from C’est La Vie catering will be enjoyed, and musical guests The Audibles will play afterwards to keep the action level high.
“We’re trying to get creative, change things up, so it’s not just the regular — what I would call the — gala or events that we see,” said Jr. A Pontiacs associate general manager Neil Langridge.
“They’re all great in our community, but we’re trying to put a little bit of a different spin on things, a little bit funner where it’s not a black tie event. You come in business casual dress, and you get to hear a famous Edmonton Oiler, and get incredible food.”
The event will memorialize the memory of the B&R Eckels founder, while touching upon on his impact on local hockey, and his countless contributions to various programming and services in the Bonnyville area.
“This is about is not only continuing his memory, but I feel like the community needs to remember how Bonnyville had one of our greatest philanthropists in Mr. Ringuette help shape the community and I believe Bonnyville has a tremendous sense of community,” said Langridge.
“It’s been a couple of years since Victor’s passing. The Pontiacs, as everyone knows, and who’s watched us or seen us online, we fly the B&R Eckels logo on the back of our jerseys proudly.”
The first annual was in October 2022, but they are aiming at keeping it around this date each year.
Single tickets and tables are still available for the event. Find them online here.
