Just before 10:00 p.m., a vehicle that was determined to be stolen entered the check stop, and the occupants were subsequently arrested.
“Alberta RCMP Traffic is committed to enhancing public safety by reducing harmful and hazardous behaviours on Alberta roadways through strategic partnerships, enforcement, education and crime reduction initiatives” says Staff Sergeant Marcel Montgomery of the Alberta RCMP Traffic St. Paul/Vermilion.
As a result of the investigation, 31-year-old Saddle Lake resident Darius John Brertton, was charged with the following:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000;
- Possession of a controlled substance: methamphetamine;
- Identity fraud;

Brertton was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. He is to appear on Feb. 1, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in St. Paul.
