Sources: Five AJHL teams to join BCHL next season

According to sources, five Alberta Junior Hockey League teams are planning on leaving to join the British Columbia Hockey League next season.

The Brooks Bandits, Spruce Grove Saints, Blackfalds Bulldogs, Sherwood Park Crusaders, and Okotoks Oilers have allegedly been accepted into the BCHL with an announcement expected shortly.

The BCHL is an unsanctioned league, severing their ties from the Canadian Junior Hockey League and Hockey Canada in recent years.

The Bonnyville Pontiacs are not linked to this report, and remain a member of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

The Pontiacs are on the road on Saturday night to take on the Camrose Kodiaks. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:00pm.

More to follow.
