Vermilion RCMP charge 3 for summer incident, trial in March

Three people charged back in August after a police pursuit and mischief charges will stand trial in 2024.

On Aug. 30, 2023, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Vermilion RCMP was conducting pro-active patrols along Highway 16, in the County of Minburn. 

The police officer observed a vehicle driver to be an individual who was prohibited from driving. RCMP attempted a traffic stop with the vehicle, however, the vehicle failed to stop and fled from police.

A short time later, the vehicle was reported as stolen. An investigation ensued which determined the vehicle had been falsely reported as stolen in an attempt to protect the identity of the occupants.

As a result of the investigation, Vermilion RCMP have charged the following individuals as follows:

Greg Wilson (31), a resident of Vermilion, was charged with the following offences:

  • Operate a motor vehicle while pursued by police;
  • Operate a conveyance while prohibited

Shane Wilson (34), a resident of Mannville, was charged with the following offences:

  • Obstructing a police officer;
  • Public mischief.

Linda Wilson (62), a resident of Mannville, Alberta, was charged with the following offences:

  • Obstructing a police officer;
  • Public mischief.

Linda and Shane Wilson are to appear next at the Alberta Court of Justice in Vermillion on Mar. 4, 2024. Greg Wilson matters have been completed through the courts.
