Cold Lake RCMP offer tips to include in your routine for a safer new year
With the new year upon us, we know that Albertans will be taking the time to make resolutions.
This new year, the Cold Lake RCMP hopes that you will choose to make a resolution to help keep you, your property, and your community safe. Here are some habits and practices you can adopt in 2024 to help reduce crime:
- At night, store any valuables away and always make sure to lock up your house, sheds, and out buildings on your property.
- Keep your property well-lit. Consider installing outdoor or motion sensor lights.
- Park your vehicle in a locked garage, if possible. If not, make sure that you park in a visible, well-lit location, and never leave your vehicle running with the keys in it.
- Remove your garage door openers and any valuables from your vehicle when you leave it.
- If you have a personal security system, consider registering it with the CAPTURE Program. CAPTURE lets law enforcement know about surveillance equipment in communities, which can help officers track down video evidence in ongoing criminal investigations (www.ruralalbertacapture.ca).
