Lac La Biche residents can finally enjoy Tim Hortons in their community

At long last, the patience of Lac La Biche residents has been rewarded.

Double-double enthusiasts and farmer’s wrap breakfast eaters can now frequent Tim Hortons in their hamlet, located at Beaverhill Road and 91 Avenue, near the Shell and Fat Unicorn.

On the morning of Friday, Dec. 22, there was a small ribbon cutting ceremony, with the drive-thru and seating packed.

“It’s going to be a huge addition to this community,” said Mayor Paul Reutov. “This is what we’ve been waiting for, for awhile, so I think we can appreciate it.”

Promises have been made for a few years to bring the iconic franchise to Lac La Biche.

Lee Bellerive is the owner, and also owns the two locations in Bonnyville.

He was as happy as anyone that Friday morning to see this come to fruition.

“It’s been a long time coming, I think a lot of people have been waiting. We can finally have that Tim Horton’s coffee in our hand in Lac Lac Biche,” Bellerive said.

“It has been a process. Through the ups and downs and the struggles and coming in and thinking there’s no way we’re going to open…there’s been a few setbacks where we pushed the date back. But that final push – I’m just happy we’re here.”

Bellerive thanked residents for their patience and the tradespeople and construction crews who worked around the clock.

“It takes a mountain of people.”
