ONE-ON-ONE EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT

Saddle Lake Education Authority is seeking Educational Assistants for the 2023-2024 school year. There’s availability for both the Onchaminahos School (elementary) and Kihew Asiniy Education Centre (Jr./Sr. high school).

 

General Purpose of Position:

The Educational Assistant will work under the supervision of a certified Teacher, Administrator and/or Special Needs Coordinator. Will support by implementing the curriculum and individual program plan (IPP) in a safe, healthy and nurturing learning environment that supports each student’s growth and development.

Job Requirements – the interested applicant will have:

  • A High School Diploma
  • EA/TA Certificate or ECD Diploma
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a similar position o Practical experience – various teaching strategies including differentiated learning
  • A driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Knowledge of the Cree language is an asset

Skills & Qualifications – the interested applicant will have (but is not limited to):

  • An understanding of the curriculum
  • Ability to carry out instruction
  • Ability to perform various clerical functions
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • A high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality
  • Excellent communication, writing skills and interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiasm, patience, and a positive attitude
  • Empathy, compassion, and respect for colleagues, families and students
  •  Ability to navigate in diverse learning environments effectively
  • Flexibility, adaptability, problem-solving and commitment
