Cold Lake woman charged after stolen vehicle found

A Cold Laker has been charged after a stolen vehicle was recovered.

On Wednesday, Dec. 20, the Lakeland Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) with help from Cold Lake RCMP and Elk Point RCMP, located a stolen vehicle driving westbound on Highway 55 in Cold Lake.

RCMP did not attempt to conduct a traffic stop at the time due to public safety, police said.

They then were able to safely set up containment and deployed a tire deflation device successfully stopping the vehicle. The driver fled on foot into a wooded area, Cold Lake Police Dog services (PDS) was deployed. PDS tracked and apprehended the driver of the stolen vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, Angel Blackman, 32 a resident of Cold Lake, was charged with:

• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
• Dangerous driving
• Resist/obstruct a peace officer
• Flight from police

Blackman was brought before a Justice of the Peace and remanded in custody with her next court date set for Jan. 10, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Cold Lake.
