Over 75 grams of meth seized after stolen vehicle found in Dewberry

On Monday, Dec. 18, Kitscoty RCMP were conducting pro-active patrols within the hamlet of Dewberry and observed a stolen vehicle parked outside a local establishment. 

CCTV was reviewed which showed a male and female exiting the stolen vehicle and going into the establishment. 

An investigation ensued, which resulted in the arrested of two people.  

A search incidental to arrest resulted in the seizure of:

  • 78 grams of methamphetamine
  • An improvised firearm

As a result of the investigation, Sandra Marlene Fryingpan, 55, a resident of Frog Lake, was charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession of weapon contrary to order

Dominic Berland, 29, a resident of Frog Lake, was charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Fail to comply x4
  • Operation of motor vehicle while prohibited  

Fryingpan was taken before a justice of the peace and released with her next court date set for Jan. 8, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Lloydminster. 

Berland was taken before a justice of peace and remanded in custody with the next court date set for Jan. 15, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Lloydminster.

“The keen eye of a trained investigator led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the removal of illicit drugs from the communities we serve,” said Cpl. Weisbrod, Kitscoty RCMP. 

“The Kitscoty Detachment is committed to pro-active policing and this is an example of its results.”
