An impressive display of Christmas cheer and celebration is not to be missed for Cold Lakers this week.

Hearts for Healthcare has returned with Sparkle in the Park at the Cold Lake M.D. Campground beginning Monday and running till Saturday.

A total of 53 businesses signed up this year and decorated campsites, along with various volunteers, to make the park shine with a variety of beautiful Christmas decorations.

“It’s an appreciation event,” said Hearts for Healthcare executive director Kari Leiper. “We just really wanted to reach out to everybody and say a big thank you to everyone who’s supported us over the years. It’s a way to give back to those businesses and organizations that have supported us, and create family-togetherness and some kindness and make your heart happy.”

While not a fundraiser, Hearts for Healthcare is helping collect donations for the Cold Lake Food Bank.

It’s meant to be a driving event because of the darkness from 5:00-9:00pm each night this week.

The entrance is at on 1st Ave, right beside Kinosoo Beach, across from the hospital.

“This year it’s beautiful. Everyone has worked so hard. I know we’ve had so many volunteers set up for the week,” said Leiper.

The M.D. of Bonnyville helps provide the power to keep the park lit. In fact, the lights are left on overnight, so if you want to walk afterwards with the warm temperatures, it could be worth your while.

The first 100 vehicles through receive a specially designed ornament from LNB Hand Crafted. Those are courtesy of Imperial Cold Lake. There’s also some bracelets given from Lakeland Lacrosse.

While there, treats like hot chocolate donated from Tim Horton’s and candy canes from Sobeys are available.
