A magical season for football in St. Paul has been capped off in the best way possible.

The St. Paul Lions are Tier IV Provincial Champions after shutting out the Drumheller Titans 41-0 in the Alberta Bowl played in Red Deer on Friday night.

It’s the first Provincial gold in the 40 plus year history of the St. Paul high school program.

The dominant performance saw St. Paul outgain Drumheller 433 total yards to 46.

The disparity in first downs was 25 to 3, and the contest was basically decided at halftime, with a 35-0 lead.

This makes it two Provincial gold medals and two league championships for the high school and bantam programs combined this season.

A few weeks before, the Lions had upset the Holy Rosary Raiders for the Wheatland Football League championship, a team that won Tier III Provincials this past weekend as well.

St. Paul’s program are garnering attention across the province.

The Bengals 9-man bantam team has won back-to-back Provincials, while the Lions have been in the final two of Tier IV three times since 2018.
