Staff reminding residents to pick up items at Canada Post in Bonnyville with parcel backlog
Staff at the Canada Post office in Bonnyville are encouraging residents to pick up their parcels, as they are coming close to capacity in their building.
There are over 2,000 parcels waiting to be picked up at the post office, and another 2200-2500 that have yet to be processed and carted.
A staff member told Lakeland Connect that this is the most full they’ve been, and that includes during early COVID.
The fear is if they run out of room at their building, then Edmonton won’t ship any more parcels to them. With the Christmas season right around the corner, that could lead to presents being stuck in limbo.
Residents are being asked to pick up parcels to alleviate this from happening.
Edmonton is still shipping right now.
Because of the backlog, some people may have gotten notices that their parcel has arrived, but they might be able to process them. Hence the importance of picking them up.
Each item has to be processed manually.
Staffing is up to snuff at the moment, as new hires have just been in training.
