St. Paul Lions roar 49-10 over Bonnyville Voyageurs

Bonnyville Voyagers fell short to the St. Paul Lions during Friday night’s game.

The Bonnyville Voyagers take a loss of 49-10 in their first regular season game.

During the third quarter, Voyager Cole McGillvray #18 said it’s a good feeling to get the season going.

“You know, it’s a good feeling to be able to just crush heads out there and get going at that intensity,” said McGillvray.

Bonnyville Voyagers were down 28-3 in the third quarter but still had a good mindset to turn that score around.

“I feel like as long as we keep our defence up and kick up a notch and hit them right where it hurts” said McGillvray

Voyagers Liam Critch #35 ended Friday’s game off with a pick-six giving them the extra six points they needed. Liam Critch said he was going to do anything to get that touchdown.

“It was just a sudden thing, I saw the ball saw the guy and I was like take it and I just ran off,” said Critch.

“I just slowed down over in the endzone. I started cramping but other than that I was gonna get it in I didn’t care if I had to jump or not.”

During a post-game interview, Nick Morgan #25 said they came into the game over-eager after winning a week before.

“You know, all the practice and training out the window. We just were too high on our win and we need to get back to work next week,” said Morgan.

The Bonnyville Voyagers are headed into practice Monday and they said they’re going to be focusing on staying in position and trusting their teammates.

“Trusting your teammates, a football team is 12 players, not one guy so we just got to trust our teammates,” said Morgan.
