St. Paul Cornerstone Co-op has offered the St. Paul Fire Department Fuel Good Day where every five cents per litre goes toward the department.

September 19th is Fuel Good Day at the Cornerstone Co-op gas bar. Fire Chief Trevor Kotowich says they are very excited.

“Cornerstone Co-op was gracious enough to offer our Fire Department, the fuel Good day,” said Kotowich

“So that’s five cents per litre that’s sold that day at the gas pumps goes towards our fire department.”

The funds received will be going toward the completion of the fire department’s live fire training facility.

St. Paul Mayor Maureen Miller said the Regional Fire Department has been fundraising to get their training facility complete for quite some time.

“To have the Co-op come on board as a partner to actually push this through we’re almost at the end,” said Miller.

“So you come in with an empty tank if you can, to help boost us over the edge here to get this done.”

The training facility is a regional facility that’s used by all the fire departments within the county of St. Paul, Ashmont, Mallaig, Elk Point and others.

“So, what the community can do for us is come fill up your car on Tuesday, September 19 at the Cornerstone Co-op,” said Kotowich.

“You’ll get to meet some of the firefighters who will be there helping, we’ll be washing windows and more importantly we have Sparky there that’s coming in at three o’clock on Tuesday.”

Fuel Good Day will be happening throughout the day and Sparky will be there from 3 pm to 4 pm on September 19th.
