It is with saddened hearts that the family of George Walter Hempel of Cold Lake, Alberta, announces his passing on Friday, August 18, 2023 in Cold Lake at the age of 96 years. George

was born July 12, 1927 in Sopot Pomerania, Poland.  He will be missed and fondly remembered by all his family and friends.

George  is survived by his five children: Ken (Patti) Hempel, Larry Hempel, Angie (Evan Swalm) Hempel, Shirley (Glenn) Strawson, Norm (Brenda) Hempel; sixteen grandchildren; twenty eight great grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Bev Hempel.

George was predeceased by his wife: Tillie Hempel; son: Walter Hempel; grandsons: Marc Schaan, Dion Schaan; parents: Fredrick & Augustine Hempel; brothers-in-law: Gaston Gauthier, Neil Deck, Frances Kohlman; daughter-in-law: Phyllis Hempel. sister-in-law: Mary Gauthier.

Private Family Graveside service will take place.

The family of George has invited the public to a reception at the Pierceland Community Hall September 30, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
