Haying in the 30’s returns for another year

It’s like travelling back in time.

That’s what Haying in the 30’s, an annual farm festival based in Mallaig simulates — the farming experience you would have nearly 100 years ago.

The event is back once again this weekend, kicking off with a parade on Saturday morning and continuing through to Sunday.

Thousands come to camp beside the site for free, in fact, everything is free. They only ask for you to make a donation to its charitable cause.

Since 1999, Haying in the 30s has provided payments to people who have been diagnosed with cancer.

They have assisted over 5,000 families in this time span, collecting donations at this annual event.

Organized and maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers, Haying in the 30’s is a staple for many in the area to attend, with also many visitors across the province.
