It was a great turnout for the Bonnyville Shooting Sports Association’s 40th anniversary on Saturday.

BSSA celebrated from noon to 8:00pm on Saturday with activities, entertainment and live performances for those of all ages around the area.

“I’ve been a member of this group for seven years now and this is the first time I’ve seen this many people at our facility that’s outside of a competition,” said Jason Carroll, president of BSSA.

The opening ceremonies included a dedication of a range to dedicated volunteers and speeches from local dignitaries and Alberta’s Chief Firearms Officer Dr. Teri Bryant.

The Bonnyville and District SPCA hosted a fundraising BBQ and the Royal Canadian Legion had a 25-dollar steak dinner in the evening.

There was an Artisan Makers Market with different items, All Things Sharp was there for sharpening needs, and a kid’s zone that featured glitter tattoos inflatable obstacle course and more outdoor games.

The Bonnyville Friendship Center helped organized Indigenous Performer Patrick Mitsuing to perform in the afternoon, Open Mike Before Mike, and Mike Plume performed at 6.

“People are coming in from outside of town to take part in this shooting event. It’s just awesome to see so many people out here,” said Carroll.
