Man pointed gun around Subway, stole money, charged in St. Paul

A man is facing robbery with a firearm charge amongst others after an attempted holdup of the Subway in St. Paul.

On Friday, June 30 around 8:00pm, St. Paul RCMP responded to a robbery in progress at Subway.

Police say they quickly arrived on scene and located the male in the backalley and he was arrested without incident.

The investigation revealed that the male entered the store and presented a gun, pointing it at staff demanding money.

He attempted to get into the cash register and broke the display case with the firearm, eventually stealing the tip jar, RCMP say.

Wilson Joseph Desjarlais, 28, of Saddle Lake, faces charges of robbery with a firearm, pointing a firearm, mischief under $5000, possession of property obtained by crime, using a firearm in the commission of an offence.

He was remanded into custody after a judicial interim release hearing, with his court appearance scheduled for Thursday, July 13th.
