Two held in custody after stolen truck found with “sawed off shotgun”

Four people are facing charges after being found with a stolen truck and possessing a sawed off shotgun.

In the morning of Sunday, July 2, at 9:45 AM a member of the Bonnyville RCMP was on patrol and noted a pickup truck reported as stolen, pulling into a driveway at a residence in Kehewin, police said on Friday. 

As police approached, a male was standing at the driver’s side door with a loaded “sawed off shotgun” according to police, which he threw into the yard when seeing RCMP. 

RCMP said there were three other occupants in the stolen truck. 

All four were arrested and charged. 

Owen Dion, 32, of Kehewin is charged with:

  • Possession of a Stolen Truck Over $5,000,
  • Failing to Comply with Release Conditions (2x),
  • Careless Use of a Firearm,
  • Unsafe Storage of a Firearm,
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose,
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Firearm,
  • Possession of a Prohibited Firearm While Knowing Possession was Unauthorized,
  • Possession of a Prohibited Firearm In a Motor Vehicle,
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm,
  • Tampering with a Firearm Serial Number. 

He was brought before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded in to custody to appear in court on July 4th, 2023 and then adjourned to July 18th. He remains in custody, police say. 

Anna Crane, 34, of Saddle Lake is charged with and Possession of a Stolen Truck Over $5000 and two counts of Failing to Comply with Release Conditions.

She was brought before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded in to custody to appear in court on July 4th, 2023 and then adjourned to July 18th.  She remains in custody. 

Robert Whiskeyjack, 33, of Saddle Lake, was charged with Possession of a Stolen Truck Over $5000.  He was brought before a Justice of the Peace and was released on a no cash release order to appear in court on Tuesday, August 1st

Kyle Whitstone, 29, of Kehewin is charged with Possession of a Stolen Truck Over $5000. He was brought before a Justice of the Peace and was released on a no cash release order to appear in court on Tuesday, August 1st.
