RCMP believe drugs could’ve played role in mid-afternoon Cold Lake collision

Cold Lake RCMP are investigating criminally for a collision that happened mid-afternoon at a major intersection in the city.

At approximately 2:48pm, police responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 28 and 69th Avenue.

A white SUV was travelling northbound, while a black Sunfire blew a red light and attempted to turn left.

The vehicles then collided.

The 26-year old female driver of the car was sent to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries, while the two occupants of the SUV were taken and released with minor injuries.

RCMP believe at this time that drugs played a role in the collision and are investigating criminally.

A collision earlier in Cold Lake in the southend on Highway 28 is being deemed minor. Emergency crews that perform an extrication on an individual who could not open their door.
