École Notre Dame High School put on its first performance of “Clue” based on the Hasbro Game Clue and the Paramount Pictures Motion Picture.

Students in Grades 9-11 spent the last three months practicing and putting together a set for performance week, and hosting shows on both June 7 and 8, each days having two shows at 1:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

About 20 staff members and students volunteered their time to assist in makeup, technical support, music, set design, artwork creation, and countless hours of rehearsals.

Students took the time in their foods classes to bake “Clue” themed goods such as cookies and cupcakes to which guests could help themselves.

“I’m super excited to be able to perform after three months in the making. After helping with sets and painting it will be nice to see the hard work payoff,” said Kate Barrie, who played Professor Plum.

In the afternoon shows the groups get to perform in front of students. On Wednesday, Grade 10 classes got to enjoy their afternoon watching the first full performance.

“I love the arts and after some time of there not being a lot to offer for arts and drama because of COVID, it’s thrilling to be able to act and perform in front of an audience,” said Sophia Ringuette, who played Yvette.

For some students, this is their second play with the school after their performance “The Wizard of Oz” hit the stage in 2022.

But for most, this will be their first performance within NDHS and not the last as the school already has ideas for what is to come next year.

“I was terrified, but my cast members are loud and energetic and it was fun, I was freaking out a little but it was such a fun experience and I’m glad my school has this to offer for us,” said Yelena Engler, who played Wadsworth.

A special thank you was given to the Bonnyville Fine Arts Society who donated their equipment and a generous donation towards the play.
