One person has died following a serious two vehicle collision just outside of Cold Lake on Tuesday afternoon.

At approximately 12:32 pm on June 6, Cold Lake RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 28 and Township Road 624 south of Cold Lake between a passenger car and a Ford F550 truck.

Police say that the passenger car had caught fire as a result of the collision. 

The lone female occupant of the passenger car was pulled from the vehicle and pronounced deceased on the scene by emergency crews.

RCMP said that in witness statements that the passenger car was driving erratically. It is alleged that the car was travelling southbound in the northbound lane on Highway 28, and struck the truck head on when it turned northbound on Highway 28 from Township Road 624.

A collision analyst is on scene conducting investigation traffic restricted to one lane. 

As of right now, the name of the deceased is not being released as next of kin have not yet been notified.
