A fire raging in Beaver Lake Cree Nation is being held and some evacuees are being allowed to return home.
For a couple of days, a fire that is somewhere between 160-200 hectares large has burning, beginning on the southeast side of the community.
There are no injuries reported and no lost houses at this time.
It’s believed to have moved to roughly the middle of the Nation.
Last night, a cat guard was completed around the entire fire and Fire Crews from Beaver Lake, Kikino, Structural Protection Unit from Lac La Biche County, along with Wildland Fire crews from Saddle Lake and Goodfish Lake and Alberta Wildfire worked tirelessly.
The Evacuation Order for residents on Smallface Drive, Lameman Drive and Elinore Lake Road has now been lifted. Residents are now able to return to their homes.
During the fire fighting effort, Structural Protection Sprinklers were used and are still being used on some of the houses on Smallface Drive.
Officials say these will be removed in the next day or so but Alberta Wildfire crews and residents are asked to allow them on your property.
