St. Paul RCMP Road Race marks 41st running next week

On your marks….get set….go!

On Tuesday, May 9, St. Paul and area students will be relay racing for the 41st time in the annual RCMP Road Race.

A long-standing tradition, the St. Paul RCMP and Victim Services are teaming up to put the event on.

The event is an opportunity for youth to interact with members of the RCMP in a positive environment, working towards stronger relationships within the community,” said Sgt. Bobby Burgess.

By getting together in a community environment, it helps students get to know their local police officers, while also battling in the thrill of competition.

Junior high and senior students from across the Lakeland will take off west of St. Brides, continue east along Highway 29, and into St. Paul that morning. Members from each relay team will run one mile before handing off to their teammates.

St. Paul RCMP will be there throughout the event alongside partners from other public safety agencies to monitor traffic and ensure safety.

“We ask that the motoring public remain vigilant and exercise caution if they are planning travel that will include this route as runners will be present alongside the south shoulder of Highway 29,” Burgess says.
