Stolen trucks located after Bonnyville autobody shop break-in

Two people have been charged so far in a stolen truck investigation that saw a break-in at a Bonnyville business.

Overnight and in the early hours of Thursday, March 30, suspects broke into a Bonnyville autobody shop and stole two trucks and a lockbox of vehicle keys.

Bonnyville RCMP said they found the first stolen vehicle, a 2019 Ford F350 at a residence in Kehewin.

Several people were arrested and interviewed and a search warrant was executed at the residence, police said.

All but one of the arrested persons were released without charges.

Bruce Poitras, 44, of Kehewin is charged with possession over $5000, after being found with the stolen Ford truck.

He was brought before a Justice of the Peace and released to appear in court on April 25th.

The second stolen truck, a 2023 Chevrolet 3500 HD Silverado was located in Edmonton later that night by Edmonton Police Service.

Clayton Cardinal, 43, of Kehewin was found to be in possession of that truck and is being charged by EPS with possession of stolen property over $5000.

His involvement in the theft of the vehicles in Bonnyville remains under investigation, Bonnyville RCMP said.
