Serious collision claims life of 5-year-old, five injured: Two Hills RCMP

Five people were injured and one child is deceased after a serious collision with semi-truck in the Willingdon area.

The situation happened on Monday, March 27 at around 3:47pm. Two Hills RCMP responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 45 and Highway 857, near Willingdon. Police said a passenger car carrying five children and one adult collided with a semi-truck.

As a result of the collision, a 5-year-old child was declared deceased at the scene, while four children and one adult sustained injuries and were taken to hospital. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.

The RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene and traffic was disrupted for some time, police said The investigation continues as to what happened.
