Shiverfest “funner” and longer this Family Day week
Shiverfest activities are now underway in St. Paul.
The annual Family Day fun is expanded this year, with activities getting started on Tuesday and rolling into the holiday Monday.
For example, on Wednesday, there was a toonie pancake lunch available at the St. Paul Recreation Centre. Winter activities will have a stronghold through the weekend.
Aptly named, Mayor Maureen Miller said weather concerns in the past have reared their head with chilly conditions. That’s why a fanned out approach was taken, to ensure that if it did get too cold, there would be room to reschedule, or still allow for the other days of events.
“It’s been cancelled on numerous occasions,” Miller told Lakeland Connect.
“We have to consider the volunteers that pull it out. I’m happy that it’s a week long event and who can’t enjoy family for the whole week.”
The St. Paul Ag Society, Lakeland Family Resource Network, St. Paul Museum, are amongst partners for the string of events.
Weekend events Wild West Skijoring on Saturday at the Ag Corral, public swimming, outdoor skating, and an ice fishing derby on Monday.
